Federal Way celebrates Flag Day, U.S. heroes

King County Councilmember Pete von Reichbauer and the Federal Way Soroptimists hosted South King County’s 22nd annual Flag Day Celebration on June 18 at the Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center, 650 SW Campus Drive, Federal Way.

Col. Michael Healey, who commanded the 144th Army Liaison Team in Afghanistan, was the keynote speaker. The free public event paid tribute to active and retired military and police. The event also gave special recognition to select South King County police officers who have served in the United States Armed Forces as well as special guest Walter Gallagher, a World War II veteran.
