Employment stability and the mayor race | Federal Way letters

Jim Ferrell gets my vote for mayor of Federal Way.

Jim Ferrell gets my vote for mayor of Federal Way. Why, you ask? Because I’ve read all the information I can find on both candidates and listened to the debates and I have some real reservations where Skip Priest is concerned. He seems to have worked in a lot of places in a few short years. Most people don’t move around that much. He says he has been an executive at American Express and Burlington Northern and was trained in the “General Electric style of management.” He also says he has owned several businesses: Y Pay Mor cleaners, a T-shirt printing company and a real estate, finance and investment company. He has been in the state Legislature for eight years and he has a J.D. with honors from George Washington University. Has he practiced law too? If I were an employer I think that his work history would raise a red flag with me. He’s 60 years old. How do you cram all that into 30 years?

Ferrell seems like an earnest young man and his employment history as an attorney with the county shows stability. I also like the way he stands up for the people of this city. The same folks on the city council are always planning something us citizens don’t want. Ferrell looks out for us. I like his honesty and he has the guts to stand alone on things that matter to the people who live in this city.

I’ve been here for a number of years and I’m 80 years old. I think I’m a pretty good judge of character. Jim Ferrell is a keeper and he gets my vote.
