Fun Brick needs ‘champion’ investor for man’s charity idea

Local couple Michael and Carol Garcia have long given selflessly to others, raising dozens of foster kids over the course of the last 22 years.

As they get older, the couple is continuing to explore ways to give back to others and the community, and hope to do so with a product called the Fun Brick.

The Fun Brick is essentially a brick-sized piece of foam with a digital sound device in the middle. Garcia hopes to market it to sports teams and other similar entities.

“Imagine you are watching your favorite sport on the T.V. and a player, ref or coach did something dumb and stupid and you had to release your frustration,” Garcia said. “Well, I solved that problem with my Fun Brick.”

According to Garcia, he already has 30,000 bricks made. He now needs help to find somewhere between $25,000 to $50,000 to cover travel expenses so he can do the appropriate networking for his product.

“We’re just looking for one more champion to help out,” Garcia said. “Justin Bieber had Usher. Usher found him on the Internet. And now look at (Bieber). Usher looks smarter now than he did back then. Usher was Bieber’s champion.”

Garcia said he’d use money raised by sales of the Fun Brick to help single moms and other vulnerable members of society in today’s difficult economy.

“We see that there’s a huge need, in the economic downturn like we’re in now. It doesn’t matter if we’re in (good economic times), they’ll always say they had to do a budget cut,” he said. “The ones that get hurt the most, are always single moms with kids. Because it’s either welfare, or they’re Section 8, or medical for the kids or for them, or schooling for them. Those are five things right there that affected them, and not one of those things affected me at all. (This) has been in our hearts all these years, and I thought a better way to do this is to create somewhere where it will sustain somebody. Because the state of Washington, they can only do so much. And their hands are tied by all their rules and stuff like that.”

“We’re not in this to make money for ourselves,” he added.

Garcia said a large amusement park, a leading television shopping network, a number of beverage companies, and various other groups have expressed interest in the product.

“All (the money) needs to do, is to start setting up meetings. I’m here in Seattle…We might have to go to a trade show in New York, or go to Atlanta for Coca-Cola,” he said. “This is the last push. These companies want to see final assembly products. No prototypes. They are all done now, this is where we need a ‘champion.’ We are willing to share generously. What’s left is to go to these places and/or go to trade shows. But that costs money.”

Anyone interested in contacting Garcia about the Fun Brick can reach him directly by email at fiftymillionb@yahooo.com. He said he will share a promotional video with anyone who’s interested.

“At the end of the day, it’s still about giving,” Garcia said. “That’s where you get that inner peace of your life and how you are going to leave this planet.”
