The Washington Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve, an agency of the Department of Defense, honored David St. John, owner of Gents Fine Grooming for Men, with a Patriot Award in recognition of his extraordinary support of an employee who serves in the Army National Guard.

“The Patriot Award was created by [the agency] to publicly recognize individuals and firms who provide outstanding patriotic support and cooperation to their employees, who like the citizen warriors before them, have answered their nation’s call to serve,” said Larry Kirchner, military outreach director for the agency. “St. John was nominated for being highly supportive of Specialist Nathan Snyder, who serves in Alpha Company, 161st Infantry Battalion, a unit of the 81st Heavy Brigade Combat Team in the Washington Army National Guard. Supportive employers are critical to maintaining the strength and readiness of the nation’s National Guard and Reserve units both when called to state support missions and federal active duty.”

Snyder, in his award narrative, thanked St. John for his support when military duties impinge on his civilian work schedule. Snyder appreciated St. John’s support for his service and his support of veteran customers whom he serves.
