Macy's will celebrate grand re-opening of Federal Way store

Macy’s in The Commons at Federal Way has completed a renovation with expanded merchandise assortments throughout the store.

The department store will celebrate its grand re-opening starting at 8:45 a.m. Oct. 26 at the mall entrance to Macy’s. The first 500 customers through the mall entrance will receive a $10 Macy's gift card. One person will win a $250 Macy's shopping spree.

The first floor has been reconfigured by removing several walls to expand the center core and cosmetic departments. The men's, fragrance and jewelry departments have also been expanded.

“The remodel of the Federal Way store will bring our customers exciting new merchandise and an amazing assortment of men’s and women’s clothing in a superior shopping environment,” said Carol Lorton, vice president and store manager, in a news release. “Throughout the store, the design is new, fresh and exciting, and our expanded selection of merchandise is sure to delight our customers.”

Partnering with Macy’s on the grand re-opening celebration is the Multi-Service Center (MSC), a non-profit organization dedicated to helping South King County residents in poverty.

Customers are invited to make either a non-perishable food donation, or donate $2 or more to the Multi-Service Center’s outpost for a 15-percent savings pass, redeemable on Oct. 26. Donations can be made at any register thoughout the store.

“MSC is proud to partner with Macy’s in celebrating its grand re-opening," said CEO Robin Corak in a news release. "Support from local businesses, such as Macy’s, allows MSC to fulfill its mission of helping people to achieve greater independence and discover the power of their choices."

In other re-opening festivities, the Decatur High School pep band will perform starting at 8 a.m. Free face painting and balloon artists will be available to entertain children from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
