Woman wins mall's name contest

SeaTac Mall’s new-name contest winner was Doris Pollock of Federal Way.

Her prizes were $1,500 in merchandise from the Zales, Suncoast and Foot Action stores at the mall.

In the contest, participants used clues to try to guess the name –– The Commons at Federal Way –– selected by mall officials and announced in November. The new identity will take effect in the first quarter of 2004.

The contest was part of the mall’s phase one redevelopment plan, which was completed last November 2003 and included redesigned main entrances and new flooring and lighting in the concourses. Phase two will begin early this year, mall officials said.

The 63-acre mall, opened by Newman Properties in 1975, was purchased last year by Steadfast Commercial Properties, a development company based in Newport Beach, Calif.
