The Gottschalks store at SeaTac Mall will close next month, the clothing, jewelry and home items retailer confirmed Friday.

A spokesman at corporate headquarters in Fresno, Calif. said the store is “underperforming” and will close within 90 days. A sign on the store states the closing date is July 11. Employees may be able to transfer to other stores, the spokesman said.

The action is a continuation of closures of six other stores in Washington announced earlier this year in response to plummeting sales.

The SeaTac Mall location is among 34 stores Gottschalks bought from Lamonts following the latter’s bankruptcy in 2000. Gottschalks has 78 stores in six states.
