The Denny’s restaurant on South 320th Street near SeaTac Mall has closed its lounge and will turn the space into a banquet room.

The lounge’s last day was Jan. 26. Robert Riley, one of the bartenders, said regular customers “paid their final respects” at a special party earlier that week. About 120 people attended, he said.

“It was a place where a lot of Federal Way old-timers came to talk. They had a lot of stories about how the town has grown up over the years,” he said.

The restaurant, one of two Denny’s eateries in Federal Way, opened in the early 1970s, and the lounge opened in approximately 1975, Riley said.
