Denny's lounge on South 320th closes

The Denny’s restaurant on South 320th Street near SeaTac Mall has closed its lounge and will turn the space into a banquet room.

A manager was uncertain Monday how soon the new facility would be available.

The lounge’s last day was Sunday. Robert Riley, one of the bartenders, said regular customers “paid their final respects” at a special party earlier last week. About 120 people attended, he said.

The restaurant, one of two Denny’s eateries in Federal Way, opened in the early 1970s, and the lounge is believed to have existed since 1975, Riley said.

“It was a place where a lot of Federal Way old-timers came to talk. They had a lot of stories about how Federal Way has grown up over the years,” he said.

Denny’s has more than 1,700 restaurants nationally and reports annual sales of more than $2 billion.
