Long said Federal Way was the right choice for the company's newest store because of its strong sense of community, and an ideal customer base - middle income working families. Federal Way has all these things, Long said. It's an ideal location for this store, we're excited. The store features long, extended aisles with a variety of supermarket items, from canned vegetables to bar supplies and mixes. Also included are four aisles of bulk food ranging from three types of wheat flour to cookies and candy. WinCo Foods store manager John Collier says the store differs from other area supermarkets by offering a larger selection of national brand name foods. We provide customers with the widest selection of national brands, Collier said. Here, prices are low to begin with.Operating 24 hours a day, WinCo managers say they're ready for a crowd of customers at any time. The store has 16 checkstands capable of handling two customers at once. Collier said checkers on average can move 400 to 500 customers through lines in an hour. The overall plan for the WinCo site is still in development. Plans call for an additional 15,000-square-foot retail building that may include a restaurant and other small shops. The addition of the space will add to WinCo's employment pool in Federal Way, which hovers at about 170 employees.WinCo Foods operates 32 stores in California, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon and Washington.
