Borders will close Federal Way book store
March 19, 2011 · Updated 3:28 PM
The Federal Way Borders store is among 28 additional stores — on top of 200 already announced — that will close by May, according to the Wall Street Journal.
The book store filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in February and is restructuring. The Tacoma branch was also recently announced as closing. The Gig Harbor and Lynnwood stores were announced as closing in February. The 228 stores, out of Borders' 642 stores, are scheduled to shutter by May.
Borders is blaming the economy, decreased customer spending and the changing ways in which Americans access reading materials on its need to file Chapter 11, according to a Feb. 16 press release.
