Federal Way police, at 2:20 a.m. Wednesday, responded to a two-vehicle deadly crash at the intersection of South 320th Street and Pacific Highway South.
A 35-year-old Auburn man traveling northbound on Pacific Highway South in a Suburban ran a red light and collided with an Acura, driven by a 21-year-old Federal Way man, traveling westbound on South 320th Street. Neither vehicle had passengers.
The 21-year-old died at the scene, Federal Way police Lt. John Stieben said. The Auburn man is under investigation for vehicular homicide. Police believe he was under the influence of drugs or alcohol, Stieben said. The suspect did not suffer any injuries, but was transported to the hospital to undergo drug and alcohol testing, Stieben said.
The incident shut down multiple lanes at the intersection for a few hours. Tow trucks were on the scene around 6:30 a.m.
The names of the involved parties have not been released. This report will be updated when more details are available.
